The official icon is a grinning avatar with a silver blade and a gold guard. That silhouette is the fantasy. This page ranks roles, because Starlighted can rename a model overnight and the role still matters. Read the tier list hub for the letter rules, then use this sheet when a crate lid is blinking.

S — Farm godlys

S-tier is the knife you keep equipped while you run how to get godlys. Signs:

• The HUD income number jumps when it is equipped.
• It appears in a crate you can actually finish in one or two cycles.
• The trail is visible without melting a phone.

If a knife looks like the icon — compact, gold guard, readable at distance — and it buffs coins, it is S even if chat calls it “ugly”. Equip it. Lock it. Do not trade it for a louder D-tier.

A — Flex godlys that still work

A-tier looks like an UPDATE showcase: longer blade, heavier particle, maybe a chroma-style shift. Income is acceptable. Availability is the catch — pass, limited crate, or a luck window. Chase A after S is equipped, not before. Starter loadouts should not spend a first luck boost on an A-only crate.

A-tier is also what scammers impersonate in chat. If someone offers an A for your S “because A looks better”, they are shopping your income. See trading safety.

B — Honest ladder knives

Rare and legendary stand-ins live here. They are how you leave the starter blade. Buy them from cheap crates, equip, and stop caring about the name. B-tier is the unsung hero of how to play. Without B you never afford the S crate.

C — Filler

Duplicates, color swaps, and “almost godly” models. Salvage or sell if the game allows. Do not clog inventory until you cannot pick up a real drop. Full inventories are a silent godly killer, mentioned again on getting started.

D — Trap cosmetics

Giant trails, meme shapes, items that exist to screenshot. They get whispered as “limited”. They get used in go-first windows. They do not print coins. If a D is your only godly, keep it as a souvenir and keep farming S. Do not build a personality on D and then wonder why leaderboards ignore you.

How to identify a knife in the crate UI

1. Read the rarity label, not the fan nickname in chat.
2. Check whether the crate’s advertised max rarity includes godly. If the lid says Rare max, walk away.
3. Look at the gold-guard silhouette. Readable blade = easier to track in a 12-player pileup.
4. After the roll, compare income with the previous equip. Numbers beat vibes.

UPDATE reshuffles

When the red banner hits, a new model can jump from unlisted to A. We will name it in patch notes once it is seen in-game. Until a name is confirmed, slot the new knife using the axes on the tier list hub: income, availability, flex, friction.

Codes that grant a named knife — if any appear on the codes hub — should still be ranked. A free D is still a D. Equip only if it beats your current income.

MM2 names do not belong on this sheet

Harvester, Seer, Batwing, Chroma Luger, Elderwood Scythe are Murder Mystery 2 items. They are not GODLY SIMULATOR drops. A trade that uses those names is a scam checklist event.
